If you want to use your blog to make money (and I heartily approve of that) or you just want to voice in your head get your own platform, you need to get some things straight before you make your first post ever. What you have probably already done in your head, is not you?
In any case, here are the big decisions that you need to do before you setup your blog:
Your name and Tagline Blog. This is perhaps the most important step. Your name and Tagline of the swamp will be placed not only by Google and other engines of the search, but it is also the only tool that marking with hot iron, the most important you have. And you can not change it easily once you is established. Sure, I could start a new blog, but I lost everything I built in the kind of my blogs. Even if I tried to publish the change and move on my hearing, there will still be a loss in audience and the perceived authority.
Where your blog is going to be. Typepad, WordPress (I like WordPress the best and I am what I use) and Blogger (Google) offer all the blogging software easy-to-use. All the versions are available free, and paid Fancier options too. If you are just starting, go with a free service until you know you’re going to drill it. If you do, and you later decide you need some of the options offers a paid version, then you can promote.
Choose your URL. All blogging services offer customized URL, but if you can, you also want to buy your own domain name to redirect to your blog. In fact, you should not choose a name of the blog unless you can also buy the Domain Name. No cost much to register a domain name, and you’ll be glad you f-off if your blog.
How you want your blog look. Some very large schemes, customizable blog out there for low-to-no cost. If you do not have a talent for graphic design, keep the text of the density based. Later, when you made some money, you can pay someone to design a logo / header appropriate for you. Trust me, a way of the density of text looks better than a poorly presented one chart.
Especially when you start your blog, make sure you post. Much. Even if you think nobody is reading it (and your stats sad contrast confirms this) that will create a large file so that readers Peruse when finally found, and practice will help you to refine your style and voice before you hit the maximum. I recently got sucked staff with continuous good at displays of traffic and the difference is substantial!
